DRAFT, for review only. Do not publish or schedule.

This whole-home remodel brings together four connected areas: the kitchen, living room, entry, and staircase. Across the finished spaces, gray cabinetry, brick, stone, arched details, and custom woodwork create a consistent visual language. The project photos offer a look at the completed rooms as well as selected moments during construction.

Kitchen: Gray cabinetry, brick, and stone

The kitchen centers on gray cabinetry and a substantial stone island. In the finished views, the island provides a strong focal point while the surrounding cabinets give the room a composed, tailored appearance. The brick backsplash adds texture and contrast to the gray finishes, connecting the range wall and work surfaces with a material that feels distinctive without overwhelming the room.

The whitewashed brick finish softens the backsplash’s appearance. Rather than reading as a uniform, smooth surface, the brick retains visible texture and variation. Stone on the island and counters adds another layer of natural pattern, complementing the brick without competing with it.

The overall effect comes from how these materials work together: the cabinetry establishes a steady gray backdrop, the brick brings depth, and the stone gives the island visual weight. The kitchen also connects to the dining area, so the finishes can be read as part of a larger interior rather than as a room standing on its own.

Living room: Fireplace surround and built-ins

In the living room, the fireplace surround and built-ins give the wall a clear architectural focus. The millwork frames the fireplace and provides a built-in element that belongs to the room, rather than feeling like a freestanding furnishing placed in front of it.

The gray finish connects the living room cabinetry visually to the kitchen. That continuity helps the adjoining spaces feel related while allowing each area to keep its own purpose. The fireplace surround adds definition, and the built-ins extend the composition across the wall.

A detail such as this can influence how a room feels even when it is not the first thing a visitor notices. The lines of the millwork, the finish around the fireplace, and the way the components meet all contribute to a more settled, considered appearance.

Entry: An arched wood front door

The entry features an arched wood front door with trim that follows its shape. The curved opening gives the entrance a distinct profile, while the wood surface brings warmth against the surrounding interior finishes.

Inside, arched trim carries that curved form into the home. Repeating an architectural shape in more than one place can help the details feel connected rather than isolated. Here, the doorway and interior arch add a softer counterpoint to the stronger horizontal and vertical lines of cabinetry and millwork elsewhere in the remodel.

The entry images show how the door and trim contribute to the character of the home without relying on added ornament. Their shape, material, and finish do the work.

Staircase: Rail, iron balusters, and molding

The staircase pairs a custom wood handrail with iron balusters and wall molding. The rail follows the stair’s line, while the dark iron elements create a fine visual rhythm between the handrail and the surrounding space. The molding adds another layer of detail along the wall.

Together, these elements give the staircase a finished appearance while keeping the construction details visible. The contrast between wood and iron helps define the rail, and the molding connects the staircase to the home’s broader use of custom trim.

The construction journey: From in-progress to finished details

Finished photographs show the result, but construction images help put that result in context. The island and cabinetry were photographed during construction, before the kitchen reached its completed appearance. These images show the work at an earlier stage and are presented as progress photos, not as finished views.

The brick backsplash photos also record an earlier point in the finish process. The brick appears before the whitewash finish, making the change in appearance easier to understand. Comparing that earlier view with the finished kitchen shows how a surface treatment can alter the feel of a material while leaving its texture visible.

Construction and finish work happen in stages, and a project’s appearance changes along the way. These selected photographs document specific moments from this remodel; they are not intended to represent every step or the full sequence of work.

A connected approach to the whole home

Across the four areas, the remodel brings together details with different roles: the stone island anchors the kitchen, the built-ins shape the living room, the arched door marks the entry, and the staircase rail pairs wood with iron. Gray finishes, brick, stone, and custom trim appear in a way that gives the spaces a shared visual thread.
